"We create gamified entertainment apps for an adult women & LGBTQ+ audience - With a team that knows exactly how it’s done right!”
Who we are
We are a passionate team working on a gamified app for adult romance readers, led by a game design superstar and TED Talk speaker Karoliina Korppoo, and backed up by angel investors from companies like Rovio, Next Games and Supercell. We are on a mission to make highly engaging mobile products that a modern female & LGBTQ+ audience actually needs and wants.
Karoliina Korppoo is an experienced game designer, producer and TED Talk speaker best known as the lead designer of the successful and critically acclaimed PC title Cities: Skylines. Her other works include tabletop roleplaying games with narrative focus and romantic themes. With vast knowledge of game and interactive narrative design, romance reading and more, Korppoo is behind the vision for both 10th Muse and Sana. In addition to leading the company, she is responsible for the design and visuals of the app. When she is not working, you can spot Karoliina sewing cool historical dresses, taking photos, DJing, playing Animal Crossing… Well, you get the idea.
Sami Volotinen is a long-time gamer and a full-stack developer with over 15 years of experience in building scalable systems, modern cloud platforms, mobile applications and services. He has spent most of his career in fields that require highly accurate, reliable and fast tech solutions, such as healthcare and industrial measurement, and he is now excited to take the learnings into building gamified apps. Sami thinks that the text based story games and MUDs of the 90s were the golden age of gaming, so you can imagine that he feels right at home in our team!
Veera Rouvinen has 8 years of experience in communications and marketing, and has worked with game development in companies like Traplight, Rovio and Redhill Games since 2014. She’s been part of building and launching 2 successful mobile GaaS games, building Rovio’s employer image and managing large gamer communities. She has a deep understanding of the customers’ journey from discovery to retention and beyond. In her free time she enjoys smelling like horse dung and pretending to hit unmoving things with arrows. Sometimes she even actually hits!
Monica Salminen has worked in operations, admin and project coordination roles in sectors varying from construction and media to digital services and business development since 2011. She keeps the operational and financial wheels of 10th Muse diligently rolling so that the rest of the team can focus on developing the product. To balance the hard work of taming the chaos and wrangling our day-to-day, Monica spends time staring at cute things such as Moomin and Studio Ghibli movies, and dreams of being a side-hustle childrens’ book illustrator one day.
Content Manager Ruska
Ruska Kevätkoski is an author who has a background in academic studies and years of experience in writing larps (Live Action Role Plays, kind of interactive participatory stories) and fanfiction. Ruska brings sharp editorial skills, expertise in romance stories and understanding of the modern online author’s needs to the team. They are also currently a bit crazy about Supernatural, better not even ask—and with this avid larper and fanficcer, who knows what their next fervor is!
Growth Hacker Zsofia
Zsofia Kovacs is a hard boiled marketer who has worked in digital marketing, customer acquisition and data analysis since 2011. She recently upgraded her skillset with the highly praised Icebreaker VC Growth Hacker traineeship, and is now responsible for all User Acquisition and marketing activities of 10th Muse. She enjoys rare funny socks bought from secret internet stores she refuses to share with her teammates. Damn her and her amazing socks!

What is Sana?
Our first product Sana Stories is a mobile reading app for interactive romantic and erotic novels and short stories. All stories are created with Sana Writing Tool, which makes it easy and fun to write an interactive story or turn an already existing linear story into an interactive one.
Anyone can create and publish their stories with Sana - We are a platform that brings romance readers and authors together in one place engaged with gamified stories!
How did it all start?
In the spring of 2019 Karoliina noticed the rapid rise of romance stories in both books and television sparked by the hype of Twilight and 50 Shades of Gray years back. This finding led to a thorough investigation into the romance market and related apps designed for women.
She quickly found out that while there is a hunger for more engaging romance, the market struggles to provide adult females interesting enough stories with easy-access platforms. Being passionate about storytelling and games she wanted to give a chance for anyone to write their own branching stories.
And based on her research, there just happened to be a market for gamified romance books. So Sana Stories was born.
Where are we now?
The Sana team raised a pre-seed round at the beginning of 2020 led by Icebreaker VC with several angel investors to build the MVP for both the Sana reading app, and the Writing Tool. The MVPs are now done, and with highly promising interest from the reader and author communities the team is now looking to raise a seed round to continue developing the platform and honing the product-market fit (link to Our Mission).
If you would like to know more about us and the upcoming seed round, please contact Karoliina at email@example.com!
Women and LGBTQ+
Adult women and the LGBTQ+ community are an underserved audience in the games and apps business - The current products and services made for them are developed by mostly male teams, and product options are limited or poor quality.
These customers know exactly what they want and have income to spend on services and products they like, but struggle to find what they seek.
Data shows that the demand for romance reading is huge worldwide, especially in the US. Romance is the single most lucrative fiction genre in the United States, building up a total of 42% of the whole revenue of the fiction books market. The romance fiction ebook industry is worth $1.4 billion dollars a year in the US. 1 in 5 adult women in the US admit to reading romance, and almost half of them read more than one book per week.
Romance reading apps are entering this space, most recently Radish with a 63$ Million Round A. We see great potential in adding and improving on what Radish has started with gamification elements, a subscription monetisation model that suits our adult audience and creating a more fair publishing system for authors.
With our expertise in game design and mobile games development we have a definitive edge against competition - We can create tailored engagement mechanics that ensure readers keep reading more. Our User-Generated Content approach ensures a large library of stories, with machine learning and algorithms to help our customers find exactly what they want (think of YouTube or Netflix).
According to our user survey over 80% of readers enjoy having choices in their stories. Branching story enhances the reading experience and makes you feel like you are there with the characters, which is an essential feature for great romance. Interactive storytelling is also on the rise, with trendsetters like Netflix’s Bandersnatch creating demand and interest.
